So much for that recall effort. According to a new Rasmussen poll of likely Wisconsin voters, Gov. Scott Walker should survive an effort to throw out his 2010 election, a campaign driven by pro-union activists angered that he limited collective bargaining rights for public employees in a budget-cutting move.
Its a huge and positive switch for Scotts fortunes. Opponents made headlines when they easily collected 1 million signatures on a recall petition. Walker this week said he would not challenge the signatures-including names like Donald Duck-because there isnt enough time before the May recall election.
Rasmussens poll is the latest done on the election and finds that 54 percent of likely Wisconsin voters at least somewhat approve of the governors job, while 46 percent somewhat disapprove. He does good with independents, as 58 percent approve of his performance. The telephone poll of 500 likely voters conducted Monday shows a pro-Walker move, coming days after a Public Policy Polling survey conducted February 22-26 that found the state divided 49 percent-49 percent on the recall.
Helping Walker has been the states improving budget, according to a Rasmussen analysis. A victory in the recall would be a huge blow to liberal union groups whove made the Republican governor the GOP posterboy for union busting.

(24,396 posts)Much harder to motivate people to get out to keep things the same than it is to motivate people who are pissed off.
but remember, most on the right are pissed off about the recall.
never forget Kloppenberg. the state is divided - regardless of how impressive 'signatures' and a filled capitol look.

(385 posts)Look at question #2 - no candidate is listed! They might as well have asked "would you vote to recall Scott Walker and put a shoe in his place?"
Wisconsin Survey of 500 Likely Voters
Conducted February 27, 2012
By Rasmussen Reports
1* How would you rate the job Scott Walker has been doing as Governor
do you strongly approve, somewhat approve, somewhat disapprove, or strongly disapprove of the job hes been doing?
2* A special election will be held to see if voters want to recall Governor Scott Walker and remove him from office. If the special election were held today, would you vote to recall Governor Walker and remove him from office or would you vote against the recall and let him continue to serve as Governor?
NOTE: Margin of Sampling Error, +/- 4.5 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence

(3 posts)and yet, I would guess most on the left would gladly vote for a shoe in place of Walker. Falk... Barrett... does it really matter who runs?

(385 posts)PPP poll. Feingold crushes Walker in that one, some of the other candidates get beaten by him.
But go ahead and believe your rasmussen I was off by 40 points in Hawaii pollster.

(12,072 posts)Let's face it. Democrats don't have a name to put in question #2 yet.

(12,072 posts)The Democratic party does not yet have a specific person but instead has several candidates for the nomination.

(5,044 posts)This is a standardized tactic from the right. Anyone with a semi decent political mentality can see that by the articulation of these questions, this poll is only designed for one purpose, to fluff a manufactured headline 'Walker leads in polls'.
To great dismay of RNC, their usual plays are no longer working. People are talking to their neighbors, they are united and are going to vote his ass out of office. What a pathetic attempt to depress the vote.
