Went on a drive along Lake Pepin yesterday

and was pleased to see the Burke signs outnumbering those of Wanker!

We drove from the Twin Cities and crossed over at Prescott, then drove all the way down to Nelson to cross back over to Wabasha and drove back to the TC.

It was refreshing to see so many Burke signs. Is that a liberal part of the state?

I sail on Lake Pepin - we keep a boat moored at the marina in the town of Pepin so I make that drive pretty often - and during election periods I've always noticed more pro-Dem signs than otherwise. It may be due to its proximity to Minnesota (and its distance from suburban Milwaukee, which is a bit to the right of Darth Vader), and possibly to the fracking sand controversy that's been going on in Pepin County. The town of Stockholm, which relies almost entirely on tourism, has managed to enact an ordinance to prevent the expansion of a fracking facility that would have meant constant truck traffic and would have pretty much ruined their businesses, not to mention the scenery. The folks in Stockholm (pop. 99) don't like Walker at all. On the other hand I have relatives in eastern WI (Door County) and they are all pretty right-wing. I think the farther east you go the more conservative the state is.

It seems like a pretty liberal place, since it's an artist community. I did see one giant Walker sign, but all the others were Burke signs. In the past I did notice a lot of anti-fracking signs.

He's the guy who was pretty much in charge of the anti-fracking campaign there. He is definitely no fan of Wanker.

All the way from Milwaukee, and I know it's his home area so to speak, but could not believe it. The signs just ruined the beautiful scenery, although when we returned to Milwaukee, the area we were driving through had Burke signs on lawn after lawn after lawn for quite a way, and when I got to Madison yeeeeehaaaaa tons o' Burke signs.
