Scott Walker (WI) Recall Signer WitchHunt Update 4-6-12

Last edited Fri Apr 6, 2012, 09:36 AM - Edit history (2)

Iverifytherecall.com is being used to target individuals for political retribution and intimidation.

The question is not that it is public information, but how that information is used.

The website uses signature identification software, you can put in a person's name or scan a zip code. Not only does it reveal your name or names of your family, it will also give out your address.

"TODAY'S TMJ4 and Newsradio 620 WTMJ discovered that several members of our staff signed the recall petitions for Governor Walker."
Note: JS Comunications owns both of these media outlets and the Journal Sentinal Milwaukee largest newspaper as well and supported Scott Walker for Governer.

School board again:

"Sussex School Board Member Spelled Name Wrong Last Year AND This Year On Separate Recall Petitions!!

Belling was more or less advertising that you could get a persons address and then target them. He said that it was a more or less a guidebook to find liberals in Wisconsin and go after them for signing the recall.

Judges are being targeted:

"APPLETON, Wis. (AP) -- The publisher of The Post-Crescent of Appleton has written an open letter to readers apologizing for 25 Gannett Wisconsin Media journalists who signed petitions calling for the ouster of Republican Governor Scott Walker."

I a lowly blogger have been targeted;

Here's the right wing threat:

The types of retribution could be mild which is happening to me by aggressive posters on my blog, they mentioned my wife's name and what city we live in in a clear attempt at intimidation, to the Witch-hunts against public officials and journalists, people getting fired from their jobs, to what I fear next is they will be attacking the homes and property of recall signers.

In the primary the three best candidates (in my mind) got the highest number of votes. Then a former county Republicant chairman sent an email telling the Repubs how to find the names of the recall signers. In the election two non-signers and one imcumbant won. So now we have 2 tea baggers on our school board.
And the sad thing is the local teachers backed one of the baggers.

turnout is usually very low and Tea=Partiers can make a much larger impact than they can in a general.

That's a totally unscientific guess based only on word of mouth so take it for what its worth - about 2 out of 3 friends/acquaintances i ask cant find their names. I cant find my own, and I was sure to print VERY clearly because I wanted my signature to count.

My point is, given how highly inaccurate and unreliable this database is, it should never have been given any legitimacy whatsoever by news media. It is totally unfair - I would even say unethical - to single out justices, school board members, journalists - anyone - for public scolding when the source is so questionable. It very well could be that instead of a small minority of justices, journalists etc. signing it was a much larger number, in which case it would be harder for them to villify those who signed.
