La Crosse man accused of leaving meth in restaurant's tip jar

A La Crosse man is accused of felony drug possession after inadvertently leaving a bag of methamphetamine in a tip jar.

According to a criminal complaint, an employee at Famous Dave’s restaurant said he waited on a customer who put several dollar bills in the tip jar. He later discovered there was also a small plastic bag containing a white substance and called police, saying the customer was wearing a red coat and standing at a bus stop.

Officers eventually spotted Shedrick Bonner walking across a nearby parking lot carrying a Famous Dave’s bag.

When questioned by police, Bonner, 42, said he had a small amount of meth that he’d been carrying for a couple of days and conceded he might have dropped it in the tip jar, according to the complaint. Bonner said he hadn’t intended to use the drugs.
