State scolds veterans agency over records process; employee reassigned
The Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs has been directed to revise its public records policies within 30 days after a personnel investigation found records procedures werent followed in two cases.
Also an agency employee in charge of reviewing public records requests was reassigned after being placed on paid administrative leave for 75 days.
The cases stem from a request last fall by a veterans advocate for an incident report related to a potentially hazardous liquid oxygen leak in May at the veterans home at King.
The agency withheld the incident report after determining the requester, Rick de Moya, who had filed hundreds of records requests, identified the wrong building where the liquid oxygen incident occurred.
