MADISON, Wis. Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen says he is very concerned about voter fraud as six recall elections near, including one targeting fellow Republican, Gov. Scott Walker.
Van Hollen was asked about fraud concerns Friday given that the state's law requiring voters to show photo identification at the polls has been blocked by two Dane County judges. The state Supreme Court on Monday refused to take up the case, making it unlikely that the law will be reinstated before the May 8 primary or June 5 general election.
Van Hollen says voter fraud is always a risk and he has no reason to believe it's any less of a concern in the recalls. He says his office is moving forward with appeals of the lawsuits as quickly as possible.

(16,140 posts)that do it (those with two residences and the like). But since it doesn't happen much, and voter suppression laws do, well, suppress the vote, I'll take a few cheaters protected so the rest can vote Mr. Van Hollen. If you are so concerned, how about looking into that rampant ELECTION fraud? What? You say that means Republicans can't cheat? Oh. I see...jerk.

"Her decision to recuse herself from the May 8th recall primaries and June 5th recall general elections comes on the heels of yet another embarrassing election administration failure this past Tuesday by the controversial County Clerk in one of the Badger State's most Republican counties.
According to Vrakas' statement, the elected Nickolaus --- who will face her own re-election contest later this year --- was given two choices by the County Executive, either resign or step aside for the upcoming recall elections.
"In a meeting this afternoon I presented two options to Waukesha County Clerk Kathy Nickolaus," Vrakas' statement reads, "resignation, or designating the deputy clerk to run the upcoming recall election."
"Kathy agreed to hand off her election duties to the deputy county clerk in order to avoid my public call for her resignation," says Vrakas. "In stepping aside, Kathy also agreed to allow outside consultants and county staff to work side-by-side with the deputy clerk to help restore confidence in our election process. The county will move swiftly to examine the election night procedures in the County Clerks Office and make changes as necessary to restore publics confidence in our elections."http://www.bradblog.com/?p=9236

(26,624 posts)BIG UPDATE!!
In this 2006 election, Van Hollen won the election for Attorney General with these numbers:
1,065,453 - Van Hollen (R)
1,056,594 - Falk (D)
A difference of 8,859 votes STATEWIDE.
Waukesha county, Kathy Nickolaus' playground, reports 17,243 more votes cast for the Attorney General race in Waukesha county than there were total number of ballots cast.
How many more of those "extra" 17,243 votes were for Van Hollen than were for Kathleen Falk?? I'm guessing it's somewhere right about 8,900 votes.
