Wisconsin: No wonder Walker wanted to repeal the (equal pay) law - it was working. Great video.

from my email from Recall Walker HQ....

Dear Scuba,

It would be hilarious if it wasn't so insulting.

In defending Scott Walker's outrageous repeal of the Equal Pay Act, state Senator Glenn Grothman said that "money is more important for men." (1) Scott Walker Republicans seem to think it's ok to pay women less for doing the same work as a man - why do they think I'm worth less?

Scott Walker himself says that stripping pay equity protections for women, veterans, seniors and disabled workers is part of his job creation strategy, which might explain why Scott Walker’s Wisconsin is leading the nation in job losses. (2)

Guys, let me tell you: money is plenty important for women and families. Because Scott Walker Republicans think I'm worth less, women only earn 77 cents to a man's dollar. For the average Wisconsin woman, that's more than $10,000 of annual income - hardly pocket change. (3) To make it even easier to understand, we've got a little video you should watch.

Here's a bit of math that even Scott Walker might understand. In 2009, when the Equal Pay Act law was passed, Wisconsin was in 36th place nationwide for pay equity. Just one year later, Wisconsin shot up to 24th. No wonder Walker wanted to repeal the law - it was working.

Watch our video, "Pocket Change", and share it with your friends.

In solidarity,

Maggie Brickerman

We do now have a candidate to run against Grothman. Meet Tanya Lohr: http://www.democraticunderground.com/10842223
