Seven charged for scheme to defraud Green Bay and Fox Cities banks and credit unions

GREEN BAY – Seven North Carolina residents have been charged for their roles in a scheme, known nationally as "Operation Homeless," to defraud banks and credit unions in Green Bay and the Fox Valley.

Che Simons, 28, Sequoia Southerland, 21, Mackel Gaither, 28, Henry Wilder, 32, Fred Allen, 24, Keith Davidson, 26, and Deshawn Mobley, 27, were indicted in federal court Tuesday with five counts each of financial institution fraud and two counts each of aggravated identity theft.

Each fraud charge carries a maximum 30-year prison sentence with a $1,000,000 fine, according to a press release from the United States Department of Justice. The identity theft charges each call for a mandatory two-year prison sentence.

The case was initially charged in Brown County Circuit Court before it was moved to federal court.
