My day in Milwaukee: How a street level rock dealer convinced an apathetic voter to stand up

(to an abusive Governor).

I'm a wholesale granite sales rep (rock dealer...lolz) and was calling on one of my retailer-clients today. One of my primary contacts is a largely apolitical registered voter who lives less than two blocks from her local polling place. She's a single mother with a high functioning autistic son who has been receiving services through Badgercare (which she's on due to scandalously low retail wages). His services were recently cut off due to Walker's cuts to Badgercare and he's begun to backslide.

We were discussing her plight today and I was shocked when she said she didn't plan on voting in next months election to oust Walker.
My key talking points to her were-
1) When a candidate runs on a platform and takes up a completely different set of priorities, they need to be held accountable.
2) A lot of effort has gone into gathering of signatures, Dem primaries, now is not the time for voter apathy.
3) The "jobs" gov is something like #47 out of 50 and is an epic failure.
4) He's a puppet for the Koch brothers and runs their playbook with a bunch of ALEC stuff stitched in.
5) Fer fuggs sake, vote your own best interest. Pugs get a hand on the steering wheel and jerk it way to the right, shitting on schools, labor, health care, etc.
6) If you don't vote, you will continued to be treated as an expendable labor unit rather than a full citizen.

There are a lot of good people out there who are suffering as a result of Walker's mischief and it's never too early to begin the GOTV effort.
She says she'll vote and truly hope she wasn't just trying to get me to move on to other business.

So I think you're right that she'll need additional encouragement.

I try to nudge those who are politically asleep while avoiding being a truth-screamer type.
As a flatlander, I am somewhat removed from your politics, but can't resist the opportunity to open eyes whenever possible.

Ed Schultz had John Nichols on his radio show discussing how Walker has spend something like $13MM on ads to polish the turd that is his record.
Funny thing is he's polling 3 points lower than when the ad buy started (I think Marquette did the polling on this).

Don't forget to vote Tuesday, and again June 5. I'm personally gonna vote for Kathleen Vinehout Tuesday and whoever the Democratic candidate is June 5th.

This will be the high water mark for the Koch brothers and I'm hopeful we'll soon see a massive rollback in their power to manipulate (read: buy) our political system.

I can't help but think of Jim DeMint's comments about "breaking" Obama.
This is our moment to break the Koch's and I fear they will be emboldened if Walker remains in office.
