Maybe they should give that sandwich a different name?

I’m a cheesehead and though I haven’t lived in Wisconsin since childhood, I’m still a Packers fan.

My aunt used to make these as snacks on Christmas Day before the big dinner and ever since, I’ve enjoyed tartares, carpaccio and the like.

Good memories!

buffet for years. I would fashion a ground round snowman with the thin-sliced onion rings around the bottom as snow. Black olives for the eyes and a carrot nose. Also, back in the day when weddings served brunch after church and then a big dinner at the reception hall and then a midnight snack just before leaving with your wrapped piece of the wedding cake. It was ground round on rye with raw onions and salt/pepper. I am a true Wisconsinite. When you grow up like that it all makes perfect sense!

I haven't had them in years and I'd be pretty careful whose ground beef I bought (probably would by whole muscle and grind it myself for safety). But I do like them.

They weren't bad, but usually one was all that I wanted. Now days I would pass them up unless I really trusted the cook.

They just called it Raw Beef sandwiches and put plenty of onions on it.

I don't remember any Rye bread but then again I wasn't about to eat that.

The smell from their belching and farting later was so nauseating.
