Racist speech allegedly hurled at Beloit basketball team during playoffs

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Leaders from two school districts are investigating allegations of racist speech towards basketball players from Beloit Memorial High School.

The boy’s basketball team was at Muskego High School for a playoff game Friday night when “some unacceptable actions transpired,” Beloit Superintendent Dr. Willie E. Garrison II wrote in a note to staff and families.

He described written racial slurs and “unsportsmanlike phrases being chanted.”

Concerned community members sent NBC15 photos of the N-word and swastikas drawn on top of lockers. Jason Lopez, a parent of an athlete, said he heard monkey noises and racist words from the student section at the game.

Isn't that part of the coaching team responsibilities?

If they can't figure out the responsible team, then maybe suing the WIAA should be the next step.

5. I almost went to this game

Glad I didn't. It was on my short list, picked a different one to attend.

This is the school district last spring elected MAGA across the board. In the news recently over pronoun policy.

Muskego is growing rapidly and becoming increasing affluent. Maybe a case of affluenza?

I'm going to guess a small group of goofballs ruining it for everyone else. The repercussions will be minimal.

Reminds me of the Beloit girls soccer team had to go through with their match against Elkhorn five years ago.

Please, refresh my memory. I do recall hearing something about it, seeing as how I’m from Waukesha County, but obviously the news I got was heavily slanted. Given the fact I’m from Waukesha County.

Reading the article, I go to a few games at different locales and I never see ski masks nor tank tops. Not sure where they get that from that it is common.

The theme wasn't meant to be racist? C'mon.
