Wisconsin: Protesters hassling you Senator? New Capitol Police Chief says "hit them".

Coverage thanks to Cognitive Dissidence.

Tin Soldiers, Tin Badges

Not only is the constitutional right to Free Speech becoming increasingly scarce, but the brownshirts are getting downright violent to anyone who tries to exercise it. In Madison, the new commandant of the Capital Police, Dave Erwin, is already trying to make a name for himself by cracking down on peaceful protesters. Because you know, people singing about workers rights is a threat to our society or something like that.

And how far is Erwin willing to go to return "normalcy" to the Capitol? Well, as far as condoning violence, apparently with or without just cause:

Erwin recently met with legislative aides who were feeling threatened or intimidated by protesters who have come into the aides' offices to berate them and have followed them to their cars. He suggested they try filming a demonstrator and, if that didn't work, punching the person with their free hand.

"I said if it wasn't working you could try to hit them," Erwin said.

Emphasis mine. During the protests in winter/spring 2011 the Capital Police as well as many other police units from around the State were frequently commended for their restraint, and for the dignity and respect with which they treated the protesters. Apparently Fitzwalkerstan didn't like that so they brought in this cowboy late last month.

The article also covers the recent police harassment of the "Overhead Light Brigade".

as well as his department sued. I hope the first person who gets hit, ties it back to him and sues.

Maybe if they begin losing more in law suits than the rich mother fuckers are paying them to keep protesters down, they will change tactics.

8. ok, so it isn't "massive," but we had about two hundred people yesterday for the sing along.

We expected the arrests to start yesterday. However, I think they were doing thier groundwork by trying to give copies of the rules to a few people they perceive as "leaders." I think today or tomorrow might be the day.

We can always use support, by the way. Come to the Capitol - the sing along is every weekday at noon. You don't have to sing in key, and there are song books with the lyrics. Even if you don't want to participate in the singing, it helps us to have people there as witnesses if anything happens. Fridays have the least potential for problems with the cops, since we move outside those days.

Yesterday's sing along was particularly beautiful. There was great harmonious energy.

his actual advice was to sucker-punch people. Hold your phone up to video - or even to PRETEND to video - and punch the person in the face.

And his story about someone coming AROUND the desk of a staffer is complete bullshit. There's video of the exchange in question, and his tale is totally full of crap.

10. Sadly, no, too many obligations. We do need a major, nation-wide "stop suppressing the vote" rally.
