Speaker Robin Vos and Majority Leader Scott Suder released a statement Wednesday calling the bill a top priority. They said the measure will help bring thousands of jobs to the state but didn't offer any details on what changes the bill might make.
The statement comes on the same day Republic Gov. Scott Walker was scheduled to visit businesses around the state highlighting the importance of mining.
Republicans pushed a mining reform bill during the last session to help Gogebic Taconite open an iron mine near Lake Superior. The company promised the mine would create 700 jobs.

The next step will be to turn the management of deer hunting on public lands over to private corporations.

If their is mine activity it has nothing to do with good wages or being SAFE.
Who needs jobs where the wages will be so low that a person can not live? Who needs an UNSAFE job where a person may die or be injured?
The greedy people are quick to point out one positive fact, but this does not correct the WRONG which this government approves.

http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/news/185600401.html
Bad River Tribal Chairman Mike Wiggins, the tribes attorney and other tribal members will be in Milwaukee on Tuesday to discuss their concerns about a proposed iron ore mine in northern Wisconsin.
The tribe said in a statement issued on Thursday that it plans to meet with the media during the day and the public at night.
Bad River leaders have opposed plans by Gogebic Taconite to construct a massive $1.5 billion iron ore mine in Ashland and Iron counties. Wiggins has expressed concerns that construction of the mine would be harmful to tribal lands, include wild rice beds, which lie downstream from the site of the proposed mine.
Republican legislative leaders say that a bill rewriting mining legislation will be the first measure introduced in the 2013 session. Gogebic has demanded changes in state mining laws before it moves forward with the permitting process.
Gov. Scott Walker made stops in Milwaukee, Green Bay and Schofield on Wednesday touting the economic importance of an iron ore mine.
