Madison - State Supreme Court candidate Ed Fallone more than a decade ago stood by a former gang leader who started a community center, distancing himself only after it was disclosed the married man had fathered twins with a young woman who came to the center to improve her job skills.
Fallone in 2001 was the president of the board of the Latino Community Center in Milwaukee. The center's founder, Modesto Fontanez, served as executive director at the time.
The center was seeking funding as it got its start, but came under scrutiny because Fontanez had founded the Milwaukee chapter of the Latin Kings in the 1970s and was convicted in 1987 of participating in a cocaine delivery conspiracy. He served eight years in federal prison for that crime.
Fontanez resigned as executive director in October 2001 after the woman with whom he had fathered twins was charged with killing one of the boys and injuring the other. She was convicted two months later.

(2,354 posts)No matter how silly it sounds, if you're swallowing what Sykes (or Belling or Rush or
any of those Both-Holier-AND-More-Republican-Than-Reagan guys) have to say, any
other source of information/authority must be minimized. Every chance they get.
Can't have any Free Thinkers. The Taliban are probably more open-minded, by
comparison.

(5,075 posts)I can handle it for about three sentences before I find myself swearing.
And I don't swear.
I did agree with him a couple weeks ago. The old lady who didn't get CPRd. Most of his callers said stuff like "I follow my bosses orders. Too bad, lady, my boss said no" and "She's had a long enough life, let her die." Charlie said they were wrong and that a rescuer should have tried to save her. I agreed with Charlie Sykes. Yikes.
