The real Scott Morrison was rubbed in all of our faces when he disappeared on a de-camping holiday to Waikiki as large swathes of Australia was consumed by fires – the spiv who told his office to deny his whereabouts and when called-out, staged photo-ops and forced himself on burnt-out victims and exhausted firies.

Morrison is the shit who hit the fan. The waft from a turd like Morrison is not easily disguised. It takes the efforts of a North Korean-level propaganda machine (24/7 personal photographer inc.) to put lipstick on the dipstick, to develop a Trump-lite cult of personality when the personality has all the appeal of Jeffrey Dahmer’s toothbrush, a shiver whose physical manifestation is a wide-hipped, slope-shouldered, man-boobed smirking arsehole. Yet they seem to have managed it.

How does this beer chugging, crotch-stained galoot, this shonky grifter and chancer manage to get a 66% approval rating as Prime Minister?"

2. So...it's not just MAGAts here. I think it's the universality of the human psyche. As I've said a

Million times, Mind is comprised of Brain + Soul input. In some, the soul is developed enough to get through to the self centered brain and affect decision making. But for a lot, the egotistical brain dominates and that can spell trouble since everyone's putting himself and his wants first. The soul isn't able to contribute its social consciousness. But all is not lost. Social norms and generally accepted standards, working from the outside, can function as surrogate soul to influence Mind. Balanced behavior is possible even with a mustard-seed-size soul.

UNLESS, society has broken down or adopted self centeredness as acceptable or even the preferred norm. In the US, freedom has become an acceptable societal goal or standard. Unfortunately, freedom isn't a societal equivalent to soul. Equality is, because equality benefits others and everyone, as soul input would. Our rugged individualism doesn't replace soul to balance brain. Our materialism as a society obfuscates soul values. It is completely possible in a misguided society that noncriminal psychopaths and sociopaths would be admired for their self-serving dedication to achieving their goals.

People must learn those qualities which produce a beneficial, happy, healthy society vs. those qualities which produce dissention, unhappiness, frustration, violence. This could be approached in schools and we could use the old term, civics.

4. I don't quite get it myself.

Australia has handled COVID very well, but it didn't come from the Federal Government, it came from the states. Scotty dithered, but the states jumped in without waiting for him. He went along on their coattails, but somehow he got the credit. I have to say, even the conservative states didn't waste time, and it's paid off.

8. The Australian electorate has much to answer for

The rot started with Howard - he encouraged the ugly side of the Australian psyche. The part that is racist and xenophobic, narrow-minded and insular. It was always there, but with the sixties and the embracing of more open thinking, we tended to try to put that sort of attitude behind us. But Howard brought it back, and encouraged it, as did every conservative leader since, until we now have a group of leaders who are closet Nazis.

It’s especially ironic given that the real native people of this country are those whose forebears we’re here 40,000 years ago, while we white-skinned people have mostly lived here for little more than.two or three generations. But we think we’re the rightful rulers.
