Canada
Related: About this forumHello neighbors.....
I was wondering if any of you do genealogy? I have some paternal Quebec genealogy I am trying to do for my Kids.
I've come to the conclusion that I do not understand enough about Canadian records to have any success. I'm just an amateur who does genealogy for a hobby. I have done their fathers tree here in the US but can't to go back further in Quebec.
I'd appreciate any help/suggestions offered. I would also volunteer to trade or give any help I can about the US.
Thanks, LS

Many of my kin jumped back and forth over the border doing logging.
Send me a PM if you want me to look someone up.

(50,130 posts)They even sent me a card certifying me as a researcher when I obtained some records through the office. Perhaps Quebec has the same kind of services.

(17,055 posts)I've never heard of them before. A couple of times I did visit a American-French Genealogical Society in Woonsocket, RI but didn't find anything new on my line. Maybe this one in NH will have more information. Thanks again, LS

(17,055 posts)I actually have belonged to that group for a long, long time.
Edit to add: And they are great. I just get a little embarrassed to keep asking them for help even though they wouldn't mind at all.

(17,055 posts)I contacted the places mentioned here and was refered to the Quebec Family History Society http://www.qfhs.ca/
With help from them, I have now been able to expand one of my lines back to France in the 1850s and I have also found an unknown mother in that same line. I now have to work on that mother's line!
Thank you all for taking the time to help me break that brick wall!
