"Derek Saretzky was found in distress at the Lethbridge Correctional Centre Wednesday morning. CTV News spoke with Saretzky's aunt, Carmellia Saretzky, who says it's not clear if her nephew’s injuries are the result of a suicide attempt or an attack.

Sources outside the Lethbridge hospital where Saretzky is now being held say the situation is “horrific” and that the 22-year-old is heavily medicated in the intensive care unit."

I've read that he seemed a decent guy and had plenty of good friends who are shocked at what he did. What turns someone into a murderer, especially murder and horrific, terrible acts against a tiny, innocent child?

I hope he lives and is locked up for the rest of his life. If this was a suicide attempt, he obviously feels some kind of remorse, or maybe it's just fear for himself and what he's facing, but whatever .... I hope he's tortured thinking about it every day and night, and hopefully for a long, long time.
