Neil Oliver, historian, proves he's a moron when it comes to history, with Nazi comparison

Anger as Scots GB News's Neil Oliver says he would ‘cheerfully risk catching Covid’ in name of freedom

Mr Oliver, who has has a weekly show on the controversial GB News channel, said: "If your freedom means I might catch Covid from you, then so be it.

"If my freedom means you might catch Covid from me, then so be it. That's honestly how I see it.
...
"I declare that I am a free man. I was born into a part of the world where I was taught that my freedom was won for me by men and women who died to make it so.

“In the beginning of that fight to prevent the victory of that tyranny, it was a minority outgunned and shouted down by fellow citizens that stood up and said no.

Yes, that's right, he's comparing his 'freedom' to infect others with the freedom to not be ruled by Nazis.

Not just a moron; a malicious fucker. Wow, I used to like him, before he opened his gob about politics and showed his psychopathic tendency. A good fit for GB News, though.

tyranny vs. freedom. It's a false analogy that works on the poorly educated. The morons see critical thinking skills as a communist plot.

I consider a man with neither vaccination nor a mask is trying to kill me, and others as well, and being a free man, I have a perfect right to self-defense, as well as a duty to defend others, from such an attack, a murderous assault I am perfectly justified in using lethal force to end. I honestly can't see where he would have the slightest ground for complaint if someone simply walked up and shot him through the head, or any call for police to arrest the person who did it.

The Covid resistance is very much a pathogy connected to some deep obstinacy and fear.

“I understand the civil liberties argument about the response to Covid. In normal times we should always be looking to strike a balance between individual freedom and the common good. But under the current circumstances, the notion of the common good has to take precedence, until we are all of us free to exercise our individual liberties in an environment where the threat of infection is manageable.

“And for an historian to have such a weak grasp of the effect that the Second World War had on individual liberties is shocking. Oliver constantly refers to that conflict without recognising that it required the whole population of the UK to put up with having their personal freedoms curtailed in order to defeat the threat of Nazism.

“For some, this meant having to tolerate the rationing of food and clothes, but for others it meant enlisting into the forces, being told what to do and where to go for several years and, for some, making the ultimate sacrifice. Is there any greater example of the notion of the common good?

“By seeking to dress his reckless individualism up in the uniform of those who served in the Second World War, Oliver has betrayed the sacrifices of that generation and shamed his own profession.”

And, to no one's surprise, Laurence Fox says he's a dittohead.

... It became a simple choice for them. Go broke or get nasty. Unsurprisingly they chose the latter and hired Nigel Farage.

And now at least they are getting themselves trending on Twitter, even if it's mostly people tweeting about how wrong headed their presenters are. Both with Neil Olivers posturing and Farage's attacks on the RNLI.
