Unboxed - has anyone been to an event yet?
'Unboxed' is what the "Festival of Brexit", announced by Theresa May in 2018, became. And it's so non-Brexit, it's incredible.
https://unboxed2022.uk/unboxed-2022-event-listing It's basically 10 public art works/events, all happening at more than one site, from April to September. The first event started on 30th March, and I've heard nothing about it. Has anyone else? "Tour de Moon" is in Southampton in the middle of June, and I may rock up and see what the hell it is. The only thing that made me look for it was The Festival of Britain being mentioned on TV this evening, and I thought "wasn't there some recreation of that planned? Whatever happened to it?" An FT article from March on it - not behind their paywall: https://www.ft.com/content/a31374e9-b007-4c4c-9b20-0cef13f5c997

3. Nearest event to me is at Sheffield Central Library
I was in there this morning. It was deserted outside of the computer room and there was nothing whatsoever to promote said event.
Compare and contrast with the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. I expect that also will have a lot spent on it, although much of that may well be from low level local government (i.e Parish Councils) |
