https://twitter.com/CatMcKinnellMP/status/686506753555562496So you think the Labour Party is heading in a negative direction? Off with your head!
And what a pitiful excuse--first child. Therefore, all new Mothers who travel far for work should resign.

(14,737 posts)What a shame you're too busy being negative yourself to find arguments to refute all the right wingers who think that Britain should suspend all foreign aid to fund flood defenses (after the Tories cut funding for flood defenses)

(164 posts)to be fair, one noted Leftwinger who co-chairs Labours Defence review (three guesses, but you'll only need one..) suggested that the UK should abandon a defence policy that 17 British governments - 5 of them Labour - under 14 different PM's over a period of 70 years have decided was appropriate, in order to pay for Flood Defences...
reshuffle not exactly a triumph though.

(14,737 posts)....is that Livingstone's suggestion has been roundly ignored, whereas the idea of stopping all overseas aid to pay for flood defenses is being promoted heavily by right wingers on Farcebook.
Maybe if we got the likes of Starbucks & Vodafone to pay their taxes we would have enough money for both?
sadly, i rather doubt that Kens 'contributions' are going to be ignored, like you i see the denials and the rebuttals of whatever wibbling idiocy he spouts this week coming from the leadership, but they've known him for 30 years, they put him as 'co chair' of this review (does anyone thing the massive political vaccuum that is Emily Thornberry will be a counter-balance to Ken..?) and they've not seen fit to remove him from that review..
no, the review will be written by Livingstone, for Corbyn, saying the things Corbyn doesn't want to say but will 'eventually, on balance, accept'. they will become party policy and go in the manifesto. slack-jawed idiots writing drivel on facebook is hardly a new phenomenon, and neither is their rantings being thoroughly ignored - certainly by a PM who has faced excoriating criticism from within his own party for the last 5 years in putting the aid budget on a legal footing while defence got hollowed out. i think the chances of Cameron going back on that 0.7% figure is about zero.
i think the collection shortfall is £35bn - figure i heard yesterday on PM...
