2017 AL US Senate Election- Will a public endorsement from the family of the late Howell Heflin

help Doug Jones win on December 12,2017. Heflin was the last Democratic US Senator from AL (1979-1997). Jones worked for Heflin.
If Doug Jones wins on December 12,2017. Will Jones follow Heflin's lead and remain as a Democrat or follow Shelby's lead and switch to the Republican party?
