(115,681 posts)Nobody has been expelled from the Senate since 1862, and that was for treason - supporting the Confederacy during the Civil War. He will not be expelled or forced to resign (and even if he was, in Minnesota a Senate vacancy is filled by the governor, a progressive Democrat who would probably appoint Keith Ellison). He will seek re-election in 2020 and win because he is very popular here. There is nobody who could successfully challenge him in a primary, and I don't think anyone would even try.
