2018 MS US Senate Special Election- Does Jim Hood run or is he focused on becoming Governor in 2019?

If Jim Hood-D decides to run for MS Governor in 2019- he'd face Lt. Governor Tate Reeves in the November General Election.
If Jim Hood-D runs for the US Senate in 2018- he could face another Democrat in the runoff Special Election-Late November/Early December. Bennie Thompson.
MS US Senate Special Election is similar to Louisiana- all candidates regardless of party affiliation run on the same ballot.
We could see a Moderate to Conservative Democrat Jim Hood, A progressive black Democrat Bennie Thompson, and couple of top tier Republican candidates.
The runoff Special Election matchup
Hood-D vs Thompson-D
Hood-D vs ?????-R
Thompson-D vs ????-R
Bennie Thompson-D could increase AA turnout- help David Baria-D defeat McDaniel-R in the November General Election assuming McDaniel defeats Wicker in the Republican primary.
