If Bullock(D-MT) had appointed Schweitzer(D-MT) to Baucus' MT US Senate seat in 2013/2014,

Would Schweitzer-D have won the 2014 MT US Senate Race against Daines-R or Would Schweitzer-D have lost due to the national Republican wave?
Is Schweitzer-D available to run for the US Senate in 2020 or Is Wilmot Collins-D likely to be the Democratic nominee?
