first-timer to bleaching clothes, need help

Hi all,

My first post here. I need to bleach some whites. I've never done this before. Yes, I could go google but I'd rather someone(s) hold me by the hand a bit. What do I need to know so I don't ruin my clothes ? Thank you very much in advance!

On edit: Do I use hot water, cold water, or lukewarm for best results ?

1. Mix the bleach in w water first,never directly pour it anywhere near clothes.

I usually let the wager fill 1/3-1/2 w water and add the bleach and agitate it, then add clothes.

4. Check the labels if they have them

Some synthetics turn yellow or brown if bleached. Don't ask how I know that!

Spills and splashes from bleach will ruin your outfit, also be careful not to drip on carpet or any thing that has color

10. Do not bleach anything 100% polyester

It likely won't do much good and will damage the fabric.

As for COTTONS (specifically), fill machine with water and add about 1/2 c. bleach and then add the clothes.

Proceed as per usual.

You should not have any problems unless you spill the bleach on something.

Use OXY instead.

14. Why...changes the pH?

I do cotton whites with it in hot water. The amount used is so small it doesn't matter. I use it to clean the toilet bowl. Sometimes the old use cleaners are the best.
