1. The vast majority of the infected computers I see have ALL the updates

and it didn't help. The main problem is that you can have the best security software available but it is overridden by the ID ten T error.

3. I had problems with my laptop

with the auto updates to vista. I just never updated at all and everything works just fine. Still running xp on the pc.......it's a workhorse!

4. it's probably just easier to migrate to Win7 or Linux...

than mess with sandboxed apps and a VM.
