Am convinced that my microsoft office outlook is causing all the "not responding"
problems on my computer. Since I am a microsoft HATER, I could be prejudiced. Have paid for people to try to fix this issue without any results. I want to uninstall office outlook but everything I see on how to do this says you can't do it separately from uninstalling microsoft office itself (which I need.). You can save me time and trouble and money if you can help me solve this problem. Thanks

It could be a simple matter of disabling the Outlook service, and removing it from your start up items.

(217 posts)You should be given a few options one of which should be something along the lines of "Modify installation" or "Add/Remove office components"
That's where you need to go to remove just outlook and leave the rest of the office suite.
I agree, M$ typically sucks and Outlook is not pleasant to use. There are several quality free office alternatives if you're interested in ditching office all together.

(3,270 posts)If you believe that Outlook is causing other applications to enter a non-responsive state. Exit Outlook.
Outlook doesn't run as a Windows Service (background task). If that clears up your not responding messages, then grab a copy of System Internals Process Explorer and determine the resource lock that is causing the wait state.
If you are trying to run Win 7 with Office and Outlook, along with a web browser on 2 Gig of RAM and a the process is nailing your pagefile to swap blocks in/out of physical memory... the only fix will be to add more RAM and defragment your hard drive.
If your CPU is getting pegged, you may have some crapware installed (toolbars, malware, multiple anti-virus services, other garbage that was installed from the manufacturer). Get a copy of CCleaner and Revo Uninstaller to release these demons.
Sorry, if this doesn't help you... but we really need a bit more detailed information to help you out with this issue.
