Which encrypts the FTP data through SSL.

SFTP is completely different than FTP, where it uses SSH for the secure handshake and the protocol is very different than FTP/FTPS.

HTTP is to HTTPS, as FTP is to FTPS.

You can use Windows Explorer to connect to servers over the FTP protocol. It even supports non-anonymous connections, upload and download.

If you are looking for file download pause and resume functionality, you will need a third-party application that supports that.

I'm able to access my own website with Opera using ftp, but not via the Win Explorer. It keeps giving me error messages, despite retyping the exact address over and over.

eta: Filezilla also just worked. Weird.

So far I have no luck. I can access my ftp on my server using Opera 20 and IE11 with no problem. I type in ftp://ftp.myserver.com and I get the username and password prompt request.

When I try to use File Explorer, no matter what I do, I get an error message.

I think I found the answer:

1-The best solution :
this problem usualy caused after instal google crome because it changes some programme features .
The Solution :
1- go to control panel >Programs>Turn Windows features on or off
2- expand Intenet Information Services
3- check FTP Server
4- ok

eta: This didn't work either. I'm asking at the M$ forums.

I used the registry hack at that link. It works also for Win8.1 Update.
