Will Office 2010 work on Windows 8.1?
I have to buy a new desktop to work from home. I need Outlook and already have the disk for Office 2010, but I don't know if it would be compatible with a new desktop with Windows 8.1? Or do I need to buy a newer version? Thanks so much!

(3,033 posts)but my work requires it. I have 2 laptops at the moment with 7 and I love it, but work won't let me use them. Requirements are a PC running 8.1 with Outlook. It's my dream job, so I'm willing to be flexible and learn a new OS.

(18,479 posts)The guy who sits in the next cube (when I'm in the office) runs 8 and the whole division is running MS Office 2010. Outlook 2010 is part of Office 2010 so we're using it as well.
There should be no problems with having Outlook work with 8/8.1. Weather 8/8.1 actually works is another story.
(There's no accounting for taste and YMMV)
Best of luck.

don't know about Outlook-no one I know uses it.

(3,033 posts)I haven't used Outlook for over 10 years, I hated it. But work requires it, so I have no choice. I use the $20/year Yahoo email and it works great for me.
