sincere question about liquid cooling of PC's

I would never attempt to install a liquid cooling system in my PC. I know I would ***** it up.

Do liquid cooling systems ever leak ? I know, obviously, if they are poorly installed they will, but do expertly installed ones ever leak ? Is there a time limit on when you should replace some components of it ?

I've been deathly scared of trying it. Thanks in advance.

But I have been afraid to try liquid cooling. I seem to have read about leaks also, so maybe that is feeding my fear. I'm guessing that the newer systems are pretty much leak proof but I'm still on the fence until I build my next PC. I've got a year or so to think about it.
