2. On my windows 10, whenever I plug in a USB cable to my iphone W10 gives the message that

the USB devise is not supported. When I looked for online support told to uninstall. (USB Device not recognized" error when you try to access a USB external hard drive) I obviously need to be able to use this feature to get my pictures from my iphone onto my computer. This happened recently. I thought it might be the cable I was using but changing cables did not work either. Thanks again for taking the time to help me.

I wish iPhones played with computers better, it’s always been a convoluted process even on Macs.

Thanks for the additional info, it helps to know what you’re trying to accomplish.

I gave up and just pull the memory card and use a card reader.

or if in a hurry for just one or a few pics, I email them to myself.

This article goes into some detail about how to copy pix & movies from your iPhone into a Windows machine (scroll down, first it describes using the iCloud and how to do it with a Mac):

Yes you need the latest version of iTunes for Windows. Sadly you can't just access it like a USB drive.
