If you want Windows to eat up all your RAM and cpu cycles

Then activate Windows Media player Network Service.

Had someone bring in ther laptop, was running very slow. Took about 4 clicks to close a window, etc.
First thought-virus. Nope-clean scans. Checked task manager. 84% processor and 1 Mb free RAM out of 3 Gb-WTF?
Somehow this had gotten turned on in the startup Disabled it and cpu use dropped to 4% and free RAM became 1.5Gb.

If I was going tostream media on a network, the last thing I would use is that resource hog Media Player.

I won't use Orifice, Outhouse, Media Player, or any other of their stuff.

VS 2010 Ult. has a much smaller memory footprint than say, 2008. I think that you will see VS 2010 consume a lot more if you install the new, "Visual Studio achievements for developers" add-in... WTF. Is coding now become a game where you earn XP points for using Lamdas for your delegates!? sheez.

One of the things they did was to only load the components for the language you're using (mostly C#). I was shocked when I noticed the difference between VS (older ones) on Vista and VS10 on Win7. They still haven't brought IE up to current standards, but on the developers' front they're getting a little bit of faith back from me.
