I am in "google hell" and need to get out.

there are two computers inside my household.

Often I use one or the other.

Just a while ago, my husband used "my computer." In order to check his email account at gmail, he got everything switched over to his userid.

So for several weeks, I couldn't utilize my YouTube account, as the google interface believed I was him. I finally found where I could sign out from his account and then sign in using my userid.

I admit this means I am extremely computer challenged, in terms of figuring out the website design of these big companies. Thsi whole thing ws rather readily available. I now know where the "sign out" and "sign in" tabs are to be found on Youtube.

But now that I am me, I occasionally get asked by him to check his email. Often this means he is in the middle of web design and he wants his computer.

So today I can't get to be him in terms of his email account at gmail. (Unless I am able to use his computer.) Please understand, I have his userid, with his permission, I have his passwords, I just can't find anywhere in gmail menu bar that will let me sign out as me and sign in as him.

That seems weird. Where is this sign out sign in function at? It seems weird to not have it more visibly available.

There used to be a sign-out link on the Gmail page. I don't see it today. I'm not sure when it was changed.

Not a separate drop down button.

I should have realized that once I figured out the general scheme of things, one of the bigger corporations would play the "gotcha" game.

4. I hear you-- I have lots of accounts and myriad passwords...

but every account except my bank has a fairly simple signon, so I let my browser hold the passwords. And I have an invisible file in the Cloud where I hold all my passwords if something goes terribly wrong.

And I almost never sign on to any email accounts except the work account (that one's really wierd and uses Lotus Notes) but I use Thunderbird and give it all my 5 other email accounts and passwords so it just goes ahead and gets all my mail every 10 minutes no matter what else I may be doing.

I's not that complicated, but seems so until you've done it.

5. Yeah don't get me started on the passwords and different ones for different accounts

Idea.

I finally realized that "toughening up" on the passwords and how easily hackable they were means I will never get into that account again. So when, if as I sign up, the auto "make it harder, be sure to include at least two of these $$%%##@@" is suggested, I now ignore that advice.

And if it is an account I don't care about (for instance, a website about receiving recipes and other kitchen advice) I just use 1234. Some twelve year old who may be happy to hack me on that, good for them, and I hope they help mom out in the kitchen!
