Dead Toshiba laptop

My daughter's laptop is completely utterly dead. When you plug in the power supply no lights come on. I've also tried it without the battery. I don't have access to a voltmeter to check the power supply itself.

Ideas?

In lieu of a tester you could see if the power supply lights one up.

I've had stacks of Toshibas, very reliable, but I would expect at least a momentary light to go on even if the thing was dead, unless the power adapter is bad.

Check it out.

The troubleshooting needs to start with the power source.
