Yahoo problem...

I mentioned this in another thread last month, but no one noticed.

I'm on two listserves run by mailman ("Powered by Python" they brag) and have been getting notices that they are going to kick me off because of bounces from my Yahoo account. (Last month it was one list, today I got another notice)

I switched them to my Gmail account and they are working fine, for now. It's only listserves where I've see nthe problem, but other random emails may have bounced.

Has anyone else heard of this problem? Is it Yahoo? Is it Mailman? Have I pissed off God?

you need to see the actual text of the bounce message that the mail server got back.

Plus, Yahoo has been known to have problems list this in the past.

I've had a Yahoo email account almost since they started it, sometime between 1995-1998 (because that's when I was at the job when I got it), and not just the freebie account - I've been paying for it. For a long time, that *was* my primary email account, the one that everyone who knows me knew to use.

Last year (or was it the year before) for almost a month, I couldn't access the email account and Yahoo sent bounces to anyone who sent email to that address. So I got dropped from most of the email lists that I was on, including Yahoo's own lists.

The first couple times that I reported it to Yahoo, they told me the problem was found and fixed, but it wasn't. After the first couple times, Yahoo just ignored every report I made. Finally one night during a bout of insomnia about 3 a.m., I actually managed to get a Yahoo chat agent. (During normal waking times, Yahoo's chat agents have all been busy at least since Caesar crossed the Rubicon.) Well, I managed to convince this live person that there really was a problem and finally, after three or four weeks of complete shutoff from my email and of believing that a 15+ year stash of email was irrevocably lost, they finally fixed it.

That email account is now nothing but a repository of old emails and a current place for spammers to spam me.

Yahoo has been going downhill for years. Every time they "upgrade" it, it's worse than before. I really would advise anyone not to use Yahoo email for anything important.
