The iPad Air is amazing.

I got to use one this week. It makes my iPad 3 feel like a overweight antique.

Same size screen in a much smaller, lighter form.

It's so light and small in your hand, that I see no reason for the iPad Mini to exist.

And it's faster than some Macs from just a few years ago.

and I would bet yours got a whole lot more use than mine. When it goes, I will replace it with another newer one, but for now the 1 is just fine for my casual use.

2. I have a mini

and I like the size. I had an iPad 1 and gave it to my bro. It was too heavy for me. I want to check out the Air one of these days. Is yours retina?

5. The one I tried is a friends. Yes, the iPad air is Retina. So is my iPad 3.

The screens are identical. It's the form factor they changed.

I see. I checked the Apple Store last night and see that the Air is retina. Good to know I actually spend more time reading on my iPhone 5 than my iPad. I guess because I always have it with me.

3. I'm mad at myself.

I bought an I-Pad less than a year ago, and find it heavy and awkward to handle; if I had known this new one was coming out I would have waited. They are too expensive to trade out this often.

6. My guess is that next year's model will have Touch ID.

That will be worth the wait to trade in my iPad 3 for.

For now, expect new iPhones in September and new iPads in November each year.

9. I try to keep up on Apple news

via Cult of Mac, Apple Insider, etc. But, yeah, too expensive to keep upgrading even though it is always tempting! I upgraded to iPhone 5 not long ago, now the S is out with a much better camera. Damn

10. It's like a mini-thickness full screen.

I had a 4G mini last holiday season, gave it to GF and got a new full size for the real estate (screen size).

I like the feel of the new iPad but am committed to this one until it's another year or more old.

When they have a 500 GB drive I'll shift. I always max out the max HD in no time at all with movies and TV shows I save for air travel.

11. How do you get your video content onto your iPad?

I copy mine from DVDs (that I own) using Wondershare. I copy them as m4v files and then put them onto the iPad via iTunes.

12. IIRC I used handbrake for owned DVDs. Everything else comes from iTunes.

I have a selection of documentaries and movies that I copied long ago that I rotate, but most of what I keep are seasons worth of TV shows, like 30 Rock and the Office.

In HD they can take up quite a chunk of drive space.

I'll have to try Wondershare some time.
