Has anyone gotten Oracle vbox and Win 10 to update a Garmin via Garmin Express.

Everything goes well and then Win 10 crashes as soon as Garmin Express tries to copy the Maps Update into the Garmin. Phew, I've about given up. I used to do this all the time, no problem, until Garmin Communicator was replaced by Garmin Express.

in Win 8, but first I had to download and install an update to Garmin Express ( it was done automatically by Express ) It took quite a while to do the update, just under 4 hours

complicated. It is just a file to be removed and replaced in the Garmin. ... and sometimes a firmware update. With Windows 10 and Oracle vbox I get a kernel panic whenever Garmin Express tries to write to my Garmin. I can read/write to my Garmin myself with no difficulties. I can read/write to a SD microchip OK, but if Garmin Express does a write Windows 10 does a kernel panic running under Oracle vbox. I don't get it, it's the only time this happens in my system.

when released became a headache with VB. There is a quirk with the VB conduit or Windows implementation of USB. I read once in an obscure post that there have been problems with USB implementation in WIndows. I've used Linux and Solaris for years and used to be able to configure Linux to update my Garmin, but when Garmin Express came about that ended. I've found I have very little use for WIndows anymore so have not bothered since my recent Linux upgrade, so I just picked up the latest maps chip and installed it in my Garmin.
