(Of which, 20 are in the Senate: 16 are democrats and 4 are republicans)
Of the 50 U.S. Gubernatorial seats only 5 are currently held by women: 1 democrat, 4 republicans

Alison Case Lundergan Grimes (born November 23, 1978) is an American attorney and Democratic politician who is the Secretary of State of Kentucky, having defeated incumbent Elaine Walker in the May 17, 2011 primary election and Republican Bill Johnson in the November 8, 2011 general election. She is running in the Democratic primary for the 2014 United States Senate election in Kentucky .

Wendy Russell Davis (born May 16, 1963) is an American lawyer and Democratic politician from Fort Worth, Texas. She represents District 10 in the Texas Senate. She previously served on the Fort Worth city council.
On June 25, 2013, Davis held an eleven hour long filibuster to block Senate Bill 5, legislation that would create new abortion regulations in Texas. The filibuster played a major role in Senate Democrats' efforts to delay passage of the bill beyond the midnight deadline for the end of the legislative session. In October of that year she announced she would run for Governor of Texas in the 2014 election.

Mary Michelle Nunn (born 1966) is a candidate for Georgia's U.S. Senate seat in 2014 and past (on leave of absence) CEO of Points of Light, an American nonprofit. She has been an executive for the volunteer service organization since 1990, previously running the predecessor and member organizations Hands On Atlanta, City Cares, and HandsOn Network. A member of the Democratic Party, she is the daughter of former U.S. Senator Sam Nunn.

Heather R. Mizeur (born December 6, 1972) is an American politician from Maryland. A Democrat, she is a member of the Maryland House of Delegates, representing the state's 20th district in Montgomery County. Mizeur is currently a candidate in the 2014 Maryland gubernatorial election .
(Note: if elected, she would be the first gay governor in the U.S.)

Allyson Young Schwartz (born October 3, 1948) is the U.S. Representative for Pennsylvania's 13th congressional district, serving since 2005. She is a member of the Democratic Party. The district includes parts of Montgomery County and Northeast Philadelphia. She is also National Chair for Recruitment and Candidate Services for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. In April 2013, Schwartz launched her campaign for Governor of Pennsylvania in 2014 .

Burke is a former executive at Trek Bicycle Corporation, and she also served as the Wisconsin Secretary of Commerce. She is the daughter of Trek Bicycle Corporation founder Richard Burke.

Martha Mary Coakley (born July 14, 1953) is the Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Prior to serving as Attorney General, she was District Attorney of Middlesex County, Massachusetts from 1999 to 2007.
Coakley was the Democratic nominee in the special election to fill the seat in the United States Senate held by Senator Paul G. Kirk, who was appointed upon the death of Democratic Senator Ted Kennedy. The special election decided who would fill the remaining three years of Kennedy's term. Coakley was defeated by Republican Scott Brown 52% to 47%, widely considered an upset. She won reelection as the Attorney General in the 2010 general election.

On September 15, WCVB-TV learned of Coakley's intention to run for the Massachusetts governorship when incumbent Democrat Deval Patrick retires in 2014 . Coakley was set to formally announce her entry into the race the following Monday.
