A breath of fresh air

That's what this group feels like to me. I just discovered it today - obviously I haven't been paying attention.

Thank you for being here. I was beginning to despair. And thank you for keeping up the fight in other forums.

to you all.

I feel like common sense has left the building. One can certainly disagree with some things and question others, but I like to look at the big picture and that tells me that President Obama has done incredible things in spite of opposition that I don't think any other president has ever faced.

I hate the fact that some people just ignore all the good when they disagree with something. Again, no common sense. I really worry about 2014.

Thanks PW.

Don't despair, We Organize for Action! 2014 is far from out of reach, together we can change things.

What State are you from, anyone up for re-election? Battles to be fought?

I am from Mass. We just won a special election to seat Edward Markey (D) in John Kerry's seat! We can do this!

I am a 20-year resident of Florida but am originally from PA and MA. We just spent 2 glorious weeks back in Boston in June. How I miss it. We still have family there and our youngest was spending a week at a camp at Berklee College of Music.

I have been more involved in education issues on the local and state level here where we've raised our kids and my SO is a public school teacher, a fragile position to be in here in FL. We hate what has become of this once-lovely state. I'm certainly watching the governor's race here closely, as I think we have a good chance to unseat Scott. The legislature, however, is entrenched and gets stupider and stupider on a daily basis. 2 years till youngest finishes HS and 5 years till SO can retire. Let's hope there is still a state pension system.

My county is purely Tea but, good news, is imploding because of it. SO and I joke that we are the lone Democrats in the neighborhood. If we aren't, the others are hiding, we're the only one with Obama/Biden stickers on our cars.

I am an OFA member, contribute as I can and get the emails. Florida has potential but local battles in my neck of the woods are pointless unless the party gets involved. They haven't run a real candidate for any county or state office here in years. Sad, but it will change.

Thanks again for the welcome. I envy you your MA pols!

(formally PA and MA) yea!

So who looks good against Scott...googled quickly and saw Nan Rich and Crist mentioned.Let us know and we will help you anyway we are able. It may just be hugs and inspiration, however I know for a fact that BOGers stand together.

So glad you have roots in Ma. Only state that I have lived in, but I love her. Berklee College of Music is a fabulous place. Kudos to you for having your youngest attend a camp there.

As I said, mcar, welcome. Please stop in often~

Looks like Alex Sink might run again. She'd be a great gov but wasn't a good campaigner, IMHO. I think Crist is in it for sure. He may be a good option in this state. We need to get D's elected. At this point I don't really care if they are liberal or moderate, we need a voice for 50% of the state's electorate.

You bet I'll visit often

Wow! I feel like I'm back on DU

I've been a member since early 2002 but don't post much. I love the site for the news, information and opinions but lately I haven't felt very welcome. How sad that someone who supports our Democratic president doesn't feel welcome on DU

Like I said, this group is a breath of fresh air.
