Respect, nothing more. Just a simple show of respect

You don't have to like all of his policies. They are not perfect.

Yet step back for a moment, I know frustration runs high when we can't complete the simplest of legislation. Passing minimum wage, extending unemployment benefits even the most basic gun control is impossible. And more so much more. So let's be honest here, it's not the Presidents fault. It's the do nothing congress and a GOP party that has vowed to make this President fail. I fail to understand the daily outrage here about Obama, yet no one rails at the GOP and baggers.

For those that believe Obama owns a magic wand and can do anything, well you must remember what you learned in civics class so many years ago. There are 3 branches of government and this President is not the one who makes the laws. Remember studying that? The congress makes the laws.

On DU this President has been called worse than Bush. He has been called a POS. He has been called every name under the rainbow. No holds barred. He is not having his feet held to the fire. He is in flames here.

All I ask is an ounce of respect for our Democratically elected President. Our first elected African American President. I ask for the respect of his office. We are Democrats.

********************Sadly, I have to state that this is posted In The Barack Obama Group. I am not sad about my President, I am sad that on DU that the flame wars will descend for what I have posted. However this is a protected group, please respect that.******************************

Not that we are quiet in GD. We are quite vocal, trust me on that. I posted Obama's accomplishments last night, wow. The bashers and slashers descended in a group. Never read the article just slashed away. They slashed Obama and they slashed me for posting. No real facts. Just hate.

You know what I find sad? That on DU we need a protected group where we can come together to actually appreciate what this President has accomplished. This a Democratically elected President that is vilified on DU.

So yes, we do need our time and place to rest and laugh and share. A safe haven for when we need it, that is our gain.

Then we are in GD fighting for our lives at DU, sadly some days I believe I have taken a wrong turn and ended up in Freeperville.

Thank you for your consideration for our group, Leme.

7. staying on topic is hard for some people at times
Wed May 21, 2014, 11:56 PM
May 2014

Example in thread a couple days ago:
-
Some person (a despised person) was quoted as having said something that I found to be "truthful enough"
-
most of the thread was spent yelling about the despised person and not whether what he said had any validity
-
-
a "protected" area at times is needed to have some sort of reasonable discussion without having it hijacked.
-
the danger is that it becomes insulated, not that I am saying this is, or is not
-
I have no problem saying, "I don't know". : )

We are acutely aware of what is happening here. We are aware of the hostility that is directed at the Presidents supporters. The BOG is ridiculed in GD. I know their low opinion of us.

However the best facts come from us in GD. We focus on all the issues. We post about women, LGBT, AA and every issue under the sun. We are not deaf dumb or blind. Yet the hair on fire group has opinions, not facts. They spin and spin and then when it is done they have been proven wrong, time and again. The Presidents perceived failings are all they ever post about.

It is not just members of BOG, any supporter of this President is called a BOG member. That is not true. They love to label us. That is their short coming.

Face it, you don't have the right to invade anyone's living room and crap on the floor. Your claims of accidental stumbling don't hold an ounce of water. SheShe may just ask you politely (at first) to wipe your feet at the door, but I have no such genteel approach. I'll happily tell you and any other person who acts like a barbarian in here to shut up and get the hell out. After all, that's the only approach you'll understand.

BTW, my patience is shorter than I am.

and we had a discussion.

Your post was a personal attack. An attack based on accusing me of not stumbling upon this thread. An unfair and untrue accusation.

I have been here about a week and your comment has been the most uncivil I have recieved.

If one refreshes "Last Replied" and does not notice what forum.... errors can be made, and are.

I would never have thought Barack Obama (Group) would be a place where discussion of errors or faults of the President would not be allowed.

After I posted that I would read the criteria for this group, I did so.

I certainly understand what sheshe 2 said in her post above this one.

"We are acutely aware of what is happening here. We are aware of the hostility that is directed at the Presidents supporters. The BOG is ridiculed in GD. I know their low opinion of us. "

Your statement lowered my opinion, and now I would not recommend anyone to post here. Unless they want Republicans elected.

would put irrational criticism above that. Not if they really wanted any progress at all. Some people just hate authority so much that they can't stand anyone with any. It's good to question authority, but some of these people in the opposite direction can't deal with any - they want to do what they want and they want others to be there to do things they want only. They are potential mini-dictators and think the Presidency should be a servant of theirs to be dictator on their behalf.

...is the fact that these people who choose to belittle this president never seem to take into consideration exactly what would be happening to them if McCain or Romney had been elected.

Apparently they do not understand that we can like and admire the man and still not agree with him on every decision that he makes. I'm tired of those of us who like President Obama treated like groupies who have no mind of our own. I am not a fangirl. I am a functioning, intelligent adult who understands the issues this man is up against and how sometimes he's going to do things he feels are right whether we agree or not.

I hate to speculate on the reasons these people continue to behave this way but I think we all know what the core issue is when it come to Barack Obama.

I'd just like to remind them... if McCain had won... Sarah Pallin would be a heartbeat away from the presidency. How they possibly feel this way about Obama?

I knew from the moment I saw the title that a couple of the sheep would descend and try to act like they don't know all the rules. That same poster you had a conversation with earlier has been all over DU in the last week spewing his anti-Obama BS but then act like they are innocent when calling them out.

Democratic Underground isn't as democratic like it was back in the day when I first joined. I missed the days when I could log on, post something and get mad comments from fellow democratic underground members. I miss the days when I could log on and know for a fact that I could talk to fellow democrats and know right away where they stand.

I miss the days where I could log on and see a few trolls try to disrupt things here and the admins give them a big fat boot to the ass showing them the door. I don't recognize the place any more. I don't.

Democratic Underground is slowly transforming into Libertarian Underground. A friend of mine over at the People's View and I love those guys over there gave me the 411 on what's going on over here. Libertarians are slowly trying to drown out our voices by posting all kind of bull shit articles about their god Edward Snowden and Glenn Greeenwald. I see it every day when I check to see what's going on.

Make no mistake, just because I'm not on and active as I used to be doesn't mean I'm not keeping an eye on my favorite group. I love seeing the articles that my homegirl sheshe is posting and I love seeing my Girl Cha kicking ass. I also enjoy watching Freshwest kick ass on occasion and if I miss any more I apologize I single those 3 out because that's who I have had the most contact with.

We don't post here as much as we use too, we have taken our support of this President to GD. Sure we get bashed a bit, yet there are strong voices there too.

I haven't forgotten the BOG though. I love the Boggers and anyone that speaks up with praise when he has accomplished something that helps the American people. Obamacare, VAWA, DADT, DOMA, his measured response to Syria, so many more. His latest, he brought our soldier home, he was not left behind.

Our support is not unconditional as many say to us. He is just a man. Yet in the face of all the hate and vitriol that has been thrown his way he keeps moving forward, steady and determined he keeps looking ahead and moving us forward.

So very good to talk to you again!
