2. Krugman: Obama One of the Most Successful Presidents in American History

On ABC’s This Week, New York Times columnist Paul Krugman said President Obama is one of the most consequential presidents in modern American history, ranking third behind Presidents Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Lyndon Baines Johnson. Krugman explained his reasoning by saying that Obama has made important changes to the economy, implemented new environmental policies, and accomplished health-care reform. And on foreign policy, Krugman said, “He hasn’t done anything really stupid and that is a big improvement over his predecessor.” Krugman wrote an article for Rolling Stone magazine noting how his perception of the president has changed, and why he now believes Obama to be one of the “most successful presidents in American history.” “Not everything is wonderful, but some big achievements and no really huge disasters,” Krugman said on ABC summarizing his argument about Obama’s impact and legacy in American history. “Obama really has left the world, has left America, a different place.”

5. Well, you said it was a lonely job.

I thought you were talking about Obama.

Of course, you could go to bed early and get a good night's sleep, just thinking sweet thought about how sweet it is going to be next year after we take back the House of Representatives this election.

Myself, I like to sit up late into the night and sip so much hot chocolate that my throat becomes totally coated with undissolved hot chocolate powder until is completely gummed up to the point that I can no longer breathe except through my mouth!

Do you want to hear something funny that happened from where I work today?

One of our older customers came in to order some parts.
He's about 66 years old, and he just recently retired, and he is a real kick in the pants, a great guy.
So, I was kind of shocked when he told me that he was a little offended by what one of the other salesmen had said to him last week.
He was serious, so I played it straight, and I said to him, "who was it, what did they say to you?"
I really paid close attention to what he was saying because he is such a good customer and is such a nice guy.

So then, he told me that he had come in to the shop earlier last week when one of the 2 saleswomen were here.
He told me that when he walked in that she had asked him how he was today.
He responded by saying, "I'm above grass", making a sort of dark, humorous comment about still being alive.
You know, because he's getting so old that he retired a few months ago.
And so then she answered back, "Well, not for long."

I looked at him in astonishment that he would tell me that anyone would make such a mean comment like that to him since he is such a nice guy.
So then I said, "She said what? Which one?"
And then he started chuckling.

He told me that he had responded to her comment by asking her if there was something that she knew about him that he didn't know about himself.
He said that was when she acted really confused, and so she asked him what he was talking about.

As it turns out, she had thought that he had told her that he was "cutting the grass" . . instead of stating that he was still above grass.
I cracked up because she's about 36 years old, and is really friendly.
She's very sharp and on the ball most of the time.
So, for her to mistakingly say something about him dying soon was just too much for both of us.
Of course, she was referring to the fact that it's getting colder here, and that having to mow our lawns is almost over for another season.

That customer told me that he laughed to himself every time he thought about her remark for the rest of that day.

6. I was talking about Obama...

and yes I need to sleep. And hell yes we are keeping the Senate we may very well take the house.

7. Well, I knew that much!!

But, I wasn't sure after you made that statement to the whole BOG and said that you would do it alone.

Yeah, I have my own shop, and that job involves retail sales.
But, for my full-time, career-ending, dead end, but gots-to-hang-on-to, M-F job, that is where I get to listen to them tell me crap all day long about how hard it is for the company I work for to make money.
Which is the reason they won't promote me, or give me a humongous raise, or transfer me to Italy, or let me be the CEO of the friggin' company.
Because, evidently, I want too much money!

I gotta tell ya, at that job, I just sit and listen mostly, and then I think to myself, one of these days, there's going to be a day coming, and then, bam! then they will have wished they listened to me!!

8. Not ignored by me!

Nothing so dramatic, but Obamacare had been great for me. I got a much better policy and pay for it consistent with my income.

Being self employed, and not making tons of money, it has been a real boon.

It is great for people not so poor as to qualify for medicaid, but not rich enough to buy a good policy.

A lot of people who think they are doing so much better with what they had with their employer should look on the exchange instead. De-coupling health insurance from employment will be great. There's no reason for it to be tied to that. Without that tie, we can change jobs more easily, or have one less worry if laid off.

Obamacare has worked for you and so many others. I know it helped my niece when she went off her parents plan last year.

9. I think in lieu of listing accomplishments, there should be a group listing Tea Party Obstructions

That group has set its sight squarely on destroying democracy. Having listened to two economists in the past couple of days, as well as some historians, point to the "nationalistic tea party" and the damage we have yet to experience through their desire to keep poor people down and immigrants out, we need to post what this president has experienced, that no other POTUS has. Martin Wolf ought to be listened to, but with Paul Ryan and his agenda running the show, things are going to get a lot worse.

with racism growing at home, he really doesn't stand a chance to ever achieve an approval rating above 47% again. We probably have to live with a Republican Congress for his last two years, I hope more than anything that he will take a step to the left rather than work with the blackmailers of the GOP. I think he will work with them though. They are beyond cruel and vindictive. As are their policies. Thus far everything they've done over the past 30 years has hurt our economy as well as our quality of life. Obama is trying very hard to hold us together, but the GOP has become the Ebola of our nation - set on destroying itself.
