What do you think of the Obama chess game mentioned here?

From the Multimedia forum:

Thom Hartmann: If the Government Shutdowns - Who Wins?

John Nichols, The Nation Magazine joins Thom Hartmann. Come September - there's a good chance that the government might shut down. And believe it or not - this time - it's not Republicans threatening the shut down. So who IS? And how might a shutdown one month before the election affect who wins the White House?

It seems as though Thom is saying that if the Ryan budget doesn't go back to the rules they agreed to last year that Obama would shut the government down to force their hands. In September.

We've all heard of the October surprise the GOP is infamous for. Thom refers to the GOP playing Checkers and Obama playing Chess. What does this mean for November?

2. I think the GOP would have to be suicidal to shut down the government 2 months before the election.

And over going back on a deal they already made... suicidal.

4. As the Tx4Obama's linked story says, they'll spin it to be Obama's fault.

Romney/Ryan in charge of our lives?

And we still have so many saying there is no difference between Democrats and Republicans? That Obama is just Romney-lite?

They are going to sit out the election for sure. Nothing is good enough. I guess they can afford to do that.

And Obama looks exhausted in all the latest pictures. But that is what happens when you're working hard. Guess I need a break.

5. Not even Republicans trust Romney and the GOP, so it would be suicidal for the GOP to do this

As the GOP tries to spin this theoretical shutdown into Obama's fault, nobody will buy it. Romney is one of the phoniest politicians in history, and people will see right through this as he, as the face of the party, tries to spin this against his opponent.

It would be incredibly stupid for the GOP to do this politically and, more importantly, because of the impact it would have on millions of Americans.

Nice to see the days of running defense coming to a close for the Dems. The R's seem absolutely puzzled by how to deal with this new model.
