Hillary Clinton
Related: About this forumI'll say one thing for Sanders: He's Energized Hillary's Supporters
At age 61, I don't value excitement in a presidential candidate. I value competence, intelligence and discernment. In a normal race, I'd be content to support Hillary because she was the best-qualified candidate and leave it at that.
But the presence of Sanders in this race and the self-aggrandizing, ego-assuaging approach he has taken as he continues to hang around long past his sell-by date has got me riled up to the point that I feel it's necessary to push back and push back hard on the lying and scheming that is coming out of the Sanders campaign and being parroted by the media.
I dare say that I'm not alone in this, and that many, many Hillary supporters are energized in a way that they would not have been had Sanders not continued to overstay his welcome. Not because any of Sanders' lame-brained ideas resonate with anyone, but because at some point, good people need to stand up and say, enough is enough! I'm with her!

(24,393 posts)yet everybody in CA knows that the state is running surpluses because the Ds finally wrested control of the legislature from the R minority that was able to block everything due to our stupid 2/3rd-of-the-votes-needed way of passing legislation.
Like NY, CA is not a state where bashing the establishment Ds pays political dividends. Sanders is completely tone deaf to the way things are out here.

People in California know Brown. He is very popular and Sanders making outrageous false claims about him will cost Sanders BIG.
He may have attracted some people who feel for his stumps speech, but as they get to know the real Sanders, they see it's all smoke and mirrors.
Funny thing, I believe that he had stopped attacking Hillary and concentrated on a positive message, he would have been a threat to Hillary. But he chose to go negative, and this bitter, finger pointing, screaming, angry old man is not attractive to most voters

(3,284 posts)It's really annoying when people assume we're not true supporters because we're not throwing shitfits all the time. Worse, there are Bernie-or-Busters who think the 3 million+ HRC supporters don't exist because they think the DNC has rigged everything. Even if they could fudge a few voters, do they really think the DNC can conjure up 3 million+ fake votes??? That's insane!!!
So, yeah, these things are starting to energize me...they're starting to make me really angry. I'm with you.

(11,562 posts)I also like that you brought up the "scheming" and feel that this Sanders' campaign trait is not brought up often enough. It should be, because Sanders schemes.
He may have ran because he saw an opportunity to run against a woman already damaged by relentless attacks from the GOP--he thought it was his chance to fulfill his ambitions before it was too late. Sanders has always been underestimated. He didn't suddenly turn into someone capable of the "self-aggrandizing, ego-assuaging approach" he is employing now. We are just now paying attention to him--and Jane.
