Hillary Clinton Is On A Mission To Rebuild The Democratic Party

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/hillary-clinton-democratic-party_us_57645313e4b015db1bc95fd3

I am SOOOO happy to hear that the HRC campaign is doing this. It is "50-State-Strategy 2.0." The DNC first implemented this in 2006 under Howard Dean and I was VERY unhappy when later DNC Chairs quietly abandoned it. It is the ONLY way to rebuild the state networks to support good Dem candidates at the local level.

We are one country: the United States. We are not simply "red states," "blue states" and "swing states." The typical DNC strategy, both before and after Howard Dean has been to focus only on "blue states" and "swing states", and that has been my major criticism of that body.

Even if Hillary loses some states, as she most assuredly will unless people there are literally terrified by Don the Con as they should be, rebuilding the grassroots networks will help all around.

Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign will maintain staff in all 50 states during the general election with an eye toward overwhelming Republicans in the fall and rebuilding the Democratic Party’s infrastructure thereafter.

The strategy, described to The Huffington Post by Clinton campaign aides, is a continuation of the Ramp Up Grassroots Organizing program that the campaign applied to the Democratic primary. But unlike that approach — which had the immediate objective of competing with Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) in each state contest — the current one carries risk.

Many states in which Clinton will be employing staff and spending resources will almost assuredly vote against her anyway. She could end up wasting money that is needed to win swing states. But her staffers say the investment is well worth it.
...
Clinton has a different mindset on these matters than the man she’s hoping to succeed. It is, in some respects, an extension of her lengthy history in the party, from her time in state government (as first lady of Arkansas) to her role at the White House and her tenure in the Senate. Aides say she recognizes how much thinner the Democratic bench has become over the last seven years — having seen longtime allies lose their seats — and wants the trend reversed.

This is indeed the candidate best qualified to be President. She looks beyond herself and parochial interests for the long-term benefit of the Democratic Party and liberal concerns as a whole.

our Democratic Party... and has been raising funds for that as well as her Presidential campaign.

BS raged against her for having fundraisers with George Clooney & his wife Amal for Down Ticket Dems.. if there was an angle he and his genius team of managers could whine about Hillary.. that they thought their fans would excoriate her for.. they whipped it up. hate hate hate.. didn't work.

One sentence from the article summed this up in a nutshell, IMO.

Clinton’s approach is also born from a belief that institutions, more than personalities, form the basis for political progress — that even the most moving rhetoric runs up against the procedural rules of the House and Senate.

This is how revolution REALLY happens.

I trust HER that she has the best intentions for our Party and for the country. This is awesome news!

I trust that she has a smart plan and can connect to all needed for that endeavor.

planning to drop those efforts at all. As I read it, they simply want to continue and expand them to ALL 50 states, rather than simply to targeted areas as has been the case since Dr. Dean left the DNC.

I hope that they will also be helping those who do not currently have the proper sorts of ID required to vote in those states where GOP state legislatures have defined "acceptable" voter ID very narrowly in an effort to exclude minorities and other Dem-leaning voters to get IDs that will work. Another thing that is part of GOTV is organize car pools, etc. to ensure that those who do not have easy access to transportation can get to the polls to vote or at least to get an absentee ballot sent to them.

What I love is that Hillary's networks that have already been set up for the primaries will be strengthened and expanded. She doesn't have to begin at zero, the way Trump reportedly will have to since he has made the election all about HIM rather than anything else.

This is exactly how elections are won, excitement is generated, and more people are brought into the process - with boots on the ground composed of those who know the issues of concern specific to those areas. It's not simply about a charismatic national candidate, but how to strengthen and enrich ALL democratic institutions at ALL levels.

I've thought for a long time that Democrats should not have abandoned Howard Dean's idea of fighting in all 50 states. It's not right to ignore certain states because they've been red for a long time. People change, and their beliefs change. The Republican Party's ideas are weak and unrepresentative of people's interests. There is no reason we should not be able to turn several red states blue with sustained effort over several election cycles.
