HILLARY CLINTON ROOM
I and other HRC supporters regularly trash the pumas of 2008 because they were wrong. President Obama won the primary and it was a pleasure voting for him twice. We might disagree on a issue or two but I love the man and I hated the pumas for being sore losers.
HRC SUPPORTERS TODAY REGULARLY SAY WE WILL UNCONDITIONALLY SUPPORT THE NOMINEE.
What pisses me off is Sanders supporters by large numbers here openly say they will not support the nominee and these same people regularly trash the pumas of 2008. A few of them even call us pumas here and on DI. If we challenge them we get slapped down but when we say we will support the nominee we get told regularly they don't believe us.
I am so sick of the hypocrisy.

(15,438 posts)DEMOCRATIC Underground, a site that supports the Democratic Party, and yes, I'm a Party loyalist. The irony is, they don't see that they are as well, just not for the Democratic Party. Oh, and they detest backtalk and dissenters. Sometimes I wonder if they have their mouse pointed at the alert button the moment they enter DU.

(28,270 posts)Like its bad to support the democratic party on the Democratic Underground!
That's the whole purpose of this site!
This site has been hijacked by greens, Naderites, libertarians, Ron Paul nuts and a lot of stealth republicans trying like hell to knock Hillary out of the race.
What other reason could these Bernie backers have for pledging to never support or vote for Hillary?
Its just amazing to me that this crap is allowed by the owners of the site. If it was me, anyone including Bernie fans, who promise to never vote for the eventual democratic candidate of the party if it's Hillary would receive an instaban on the spot!
Screw waiting until the primaries! These people already are working against the democratic party and are doing it harm here everyday IMO.
I just don't get why its allowed, I really don't.

(30,058 posts)There will probably be a list once the nominee is declared and hopefully all on this site will be trying to elect Democrats to every position. If we expect to make big changes it will be with Democrats in office.

(14,400 posts)weren't actual Clinton supporters. I think they latched onto Clinton's campaign because she was behind and playing sore loser was what they actually wanted to do.
Same thing is happening with Sanders this year. I like Bernie Sanders and I like a lot of his supporters but the ones that pull the "I won't vote for anyone except..." bullshit are a whole different kettle of fish. I don't think they are actual Sanders supporters in large part and they sure as hell aren't actual Democrats.

Hillary is my choice but I would have no problems voting for Bernie.
Most Bernie fans will not say the same. The place is going to be rough as hell after Hillary wins the nomination in a landslide over Bernie

(65,227 posts)The noxious Bernie supporters are a vocal minority. They don't represent most if us, and I strongly suspect that quite a few of them are here as disruptors, not real Bernie supporters and not real Democrats.

(70,087 posts)think that 'minority' represents most of Sanders supporters either yet they do tend to disrupt good OP's that just want a discussion of the issues and/or post nasty Clinton OP's (yes some Hillary posters that to Sanders also). I also think there are a lot of DU members who are not Democrats.

(296,853 posts)2008 who got behind Obama when he became the President, Justin.
There was just one on here who was so bitter "they voted for McCain".. now that's bitter! That's a startling exception. I know damn well if Hillary would have won I would have voted for her.
President Obama and Hillary put their differences aside and came together for the very Good of the country. I started liking her again at the Dem Convention and then when he chose her for his SOS.. I rooted for both of them and have continued to do so.
I see at the debate that Hillary has embraced President Obama.. she's not out there dissing him like one Bernie sanders.
Hillary Clinton won the debate (and six other takeaways from Las Vegas)
Hillary Rodham Clinton was the only candidate on stage last night who looked like a plausible president. She had gravitas and filled the stage, while her four rivals came across as unelectable, unserious or both. In short, she solidified her status as the Democratic front-runner. Clintons strong performance will, at least temporarily, quiet doubts among party elites and make it less likely that Joe Biden enters the race.
Other important takeaways from the evening
1. Hillarys tight hug of Obama means there is less room for Biden. Mindful of a possible bid by the vice president, Clinton clearly wanted to send a message that she will aggressively compete for the Obama coalition and continue to grab for the presidents mantle. I would have to think this would give him some pause, longtime Obama strategist David Axelrod said of Biden after the debate.
After publicly breaking with him recently on issues like immigration, the Keystone XL Pipeline and the Trans-Pacific Partnership, the most striking storyline of the night was how closely Clinton tied herself to Obama. The full embrace of her ex-rival is also a testament to the presidents enduring popularity among Democratic primary voters
Hillary name-dropped Obama more than anyone else, by far. Responding to questions about her early support for the Iraq war, she noted that Obama opposed it but still chose her for secretary of state. Clinton used the word we repeatedly to describe various actions overseas, including a dramatic retelling of herself and Obama chasing after the Chinese to try getting a climate change deal. Asked how shed differ from Obama in the White House, Hillary dodged by noting that shed be the first female president.
Much MOre~ Not very flattering to Bernie Sanders .. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/powerpost/wp/2015/10/14/the-daily-202-hillary-clinton-won-the-debate-and-six-other-takeaways-from-las-vegas/
This makes me happy.. I like to see our Dems supporting each other.. Hillary and President Obama have both worked so hard and accomplished so much.. but, of course, there's so much more work to be done.
The last 7 years need to be built on.. not torn apart and plundered.

(118,497 posts)That is why they can't say they would vote for Hillary if she gets the nomination. Plus they want to teach real democrats who love Bernie to follow.
BooScout
(10,406 posts)I was an avid Hillary supporter in 2008. When she lost the nomination I was very, very disappointed and I did have to step back and think about what I would do about voting in the GE. I had to talk myself into voting for Obama because 1. I knew I could never vote for a Republican and 2. Social issues and SCOTUS were just too important for me to sit the election out.
So I did vote for President Obama in the end and I am so glad I did. I wound up liking him a lot. I think he has done so much for America over his two terms and I think many forget just how bad of shape America was in when he took office. We were on the brink of a Depression, Bush had totally alienated the rest of the world and millions and millions of Americans had no access to health care.
Now President Obama has not made America a perfect world, but it's a damned sight better than it was in 2008. Those that criticize him now set their expectations too high to begin with regarding what he could accomplish. Sometimes all we can hope for is to be put on the right path and achieve our goals in future years. I believe President Obama has done this and I beleive Hillary will carry on in that vein.
I plan on voting for the nominee.

(16,104 posts)I voted for Hillary in the primary, but Obama kept winning!
I thought, "No way!," we're going to lose in the General! I read his books, and thought this is not your everyday candidate. "Dreams From My Father" was remarkable.
Then the economic collapse, Palin, Obama won. History.
Down here, it really doesn't matter which Democrat you vote for. So real PUMA's had that option as a statement but not a consequential one.
Four years later, they were strong for Obama!
Now it IS Hillary's time! We all have waited long enough!

(22,871 posts)not so much.I've seen more PUMAs among Sanders supporters that I've ever seen with Hillary backers. I once found a breakdown of primary supporters in 2008 and Clinton supporters were most likely to have voted for Obama in the General,Edwards supporters were the least likely.

and I fear that it only get worse before it gets better.
My best guess is that they see the writing on the wall, and they're angry that it's not going the way they'd hoped.
They're mad, and they want someone else to be mad too. They want some sort of "e-revenge" on the ones that they blame for their candidate's performance, so they lash-out at Hillary supporters by threatening to not-vote.
I guess it's the last card they've got.
Perhaps it this type of behavior could be included in one of the stages of political grieving. (Shock, denial, bargaining, anger, etc.)
It's tiresome behavior. It's truly annoying. But part of me (a very small part) kinda feels bad for anyone who has to face the fact that their preferred candidate isn't likely to win the nomination.
I know I'd be angry if MY candidate were such a long-shot. (Only, I think I'd be able to look at things a bit more objectively, and with less raw emotion. I'd certainly not try to alienate everyone just to demonstrate how upset I was. I'd just deal with it and move on.)
But, like I said, it's probably going to get worse.

(9,494 posts)I don't give a flying fuck what they think about me. I don't think whatever anyone says will change their minds anyway. Many will never vote for Hillary. I don't think they are going to register in the real world very much. Their candidate is in a heated tie in one state with ours. He is going nowhere in the rest. They are just the usual suspects that have been floating around here and there for years.
It's none of their business how I vote.
