It's official: I'm for Hillary.

I'm looking forward to the Democratic primary, and I think good things can happen when Dems get together in public to discuss the issues that will decide Election 2016. But absent any other viable Democratic candidate, (and there isn't one), I'm voting for Hillary Clinton.

I still shake my head sadly over her vote in favor of the Iraq War Resolution. She may never again need to face an important issue with the kind of courage it would have taken to vote 'no'; but she didn't. I'm not happy about that. But I think all other things being equal, she is the Dems best hope for 2016, for continuing the social legacy of Barack Obama, and for controlling appointments to the Supreme Court. She has the skill, the experience, the chops, the intelligence, and the drive to be a great President.

If Elizabeth Warren is her running mate, Hillary will be unbeatable.

If Julian Castro is her running mate, she will win in a landslide.

I don't dismiss those Dems who oppose Hillary Clinton as too conservative, and too in-bed with Wall Street. But I'm not going to give their "She's just Republican-lite" accusations too much weight, either.

It is now 23 years since I cast my last vote for a Republican. And far from trying to win back this straight, white, male Christian, Southern war-veteran, the Repubs seem more intent than ever in making me despise them and their insane clown posse masquerading as a political party.

I'm for Hillary.

Let's vote.

You came up on the main page Trending. Really? Censorship is your tactic. I don't think that's going to win anyone over. This was posted publicly. Isn't there a way to make something private and stifle debate that way? But if you don't want me stating similarities to the Bush family then I'll delete it because you said please.

Her vote was not necessarily a green light for war. She'll be an effective leader as president when she's calling the shots .

he was ethically bound to not tell her.

If he was alive today, he speak out against the dissing of HRC for that one vote now as he did in the years later.

Thanks for your comment, oasis.

Since my time on DU (since March, 2001), I have been a part of two condolence parties (we were still hurting from sElection 2000 at that time; and then there was 2004...), and two victory parties. And believe me, the victory parties are better.

I'll be here for Victory 2016.

I think, too, that her being the NY Senator at that time affected her vote.

And Obama said in an interview, he understood how she was persuaded to vote that way, as well.

...and I'll say it again as it bears repeating.

Job One for the Dems and anybody who considers themselves left of center (or HUMAN, for that matter) is to KICK THE GOD-DAMNED REPUBLICANS OUT OF POWER and KEEP THEM OUT. If HRC is the best way we have to accomplish this, then so be it - I'll vote for her, too. We can worry about the DINOs and Third Wayers later.

There are likely three (at least) Supreme Court seats that will be vacated on the next President's watch. Between that, and the cabinet positions, I'd much rather have HRC fill those than any Repub. (I know - DUH - but this statement is for those that plan to sit out the election and think their vote doesn't matter.)

So in short, Job One can be summed up in four letters: G O T V!!!!!
