Clinton: Helping women succeed is the 'great unfinished business of the 21st century'

"Too many women around the world still face ceilings that hold them back from participating fully in every aspect of life, which, in turn, holds back entire societies," the former secretary of state said at an event in Washington on Thursday. "And the great unfinished business of the 21st century is helping women and girls break through those ceilings, once and for all."

"Over and over, in country after country, women have proven themselves a powerful source for peace, even in places where their political power is slight or nonexistent," she said. "They're often the ones who are saying 'to end conflict we need to think about jobs and housing and schools and policing' - all the things we know to be critical to any stable society."

This is just one of the many reasons I hold Hillary in high regard.

I posted earlier a thread about Laura Bush, Kerry and Hillary at Georgetown. Afghani women spoke about the progress that they have made in the last few years and how they are afraid that the country will regress to the old ways when the US leaves. I got attacked from all sides. This place has become too nutty for me.

I'm no big fan of Obama and everybody knows it, but I don't spend my time crapping on every Obama post. There are some where I will make a comment, but I mostly stay out of the infighting. I can't stand how on a supposed Democratic board some people treat the Clintons as the enemy. It makes me sick.

if she decides to run, for many reasons. But one of those would be just to see the heads on here explode.

I love how they hate on one of most popular past democratic presidents. Like I said, who needs republicans.

Bill is being interviewed and makes an off-hand remark about the government keeping its promises. Well, you would have thought that he said that Obama should be impeached or some other similar crazy comment. The media went berserk and the Left followed suit. They feed on each other. The media because it needs the drama to keep people interested in reading or watching their products. The Left because it sits in wait of any little thing that can be perceived as an insult to Obama so that they can jump in and attack Bill and Hillary.

If this keeps up, I'm to the point that I'm not going to give a crap about neither 2014 nor 2016. They can all go to hell!!

the promise should be kept, I thought to myself, PBO is going to say people can keep their (junk) insurance if they want. Within the next day or two PBO did just that. Bill was just getting out front in support of what PBO was about to do. Just trying to give some cover, how evil of him.

Anyone who can't see that both Clintons are 100% team players need to have their heads examined.

I also laugh when I hear them say 'no more dynasties'. Two people from the same family doesn't make a dynasty.

The Clintons and Obamas get along well enough. The two families will be laying a wreath this Wednesday at Arlington to commemorate the 50th anniversary of JFK's death. Obama will later give Bill the Presidential Medal of Freedom. That doesn't sound like people who hate each other.

She is a champion for all women which is why I hope she does decide to run in 2016. The time has come.
