New Poll: Washington State Poll - Clinton way ahead of Republicans

HRC Group Post

Democrats ahead in state headed into 2016: Statewide poll
http://blog.seattlepi.com/seattlepolitics/2015/05/21/democrats-ahead-in-state-headed-into-2016-statewide-poll/

Hillary Clinton is bedeviled in the “other” Washington by media critics and Republicans’ politically driven Benghazi investigation, but she leads all prospective Republican challengers by a 10-15 point margin in a poll of Washington state voters.

The survey by Public Policy Polling shows Democrats in pretty good shape going into 2016, in a state they’ve carried in seven straight presidential elections, in eight consecutive runs for governor and six straight contests for U.S. Senate.

PPP surveyed 879 registered voters from May 14 to 17. The poll’s margin of error is plus/minus 3.3 percent. Eighty percent of interviews were conducted over the pone with 20 percent interviewed via the Internet to reach those without land line phones.

–U.S. President: Among Democrats, Clinton is the overwhelming favorite with 57 percent. But Sen. Bernie Sanders, D-Vermont, registers a respectable 24 percent. Ex-Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley gets just 4 percent. It doesn’t speak to O’Malley’s judgment that his first exploratory visit was to a mansion in The Highlands.

We also tested the other Democratic hopefuls against Scott Walker but even in this dark blue state, none of them lead him. Bernie Sanders achieves a tie at 35, and the rest of the Democrats trail him- Jim Webb by 1 point at 33/32, Martin O'Malley by 3 points at 34/31, and Lincoln Chafee by 6 points at 35/29. The weak performances of the alternate Democrats are a byproduct of their being so little known that they get only 54-61% of their own party's vote but nevertheless they show how much more formidable Clinton is than anyone else on her side.

Senator Sanders has 58% name recognition in Washington State. I was surprised to read that.

Also

Clinton continues to be dominant in every demographic, getting over 50% with liberals, moderates, men, women, and voters within every age group. Her stranglehold basically leaves the race for 2nd place as the only action.
