Hillary Clinton
Related: About this forumOK, what were the actual results?
I fell asleep last night. Google News had a story about Trump and Clinton and the GE. Even when I logged in to get extra Hillary stories, the one story assumed knowledge. Couldn't find anything in RealClearPolitics except articles. Can someone help me?

(7,286 posts)The take home message is polls in open primary states and caucuses are not reliable
The Indy vote went hard for Bernie in Michigan.
Michigan was an upset, but with no net gain for Sanders. He needs to win by larger margins
The cold comfort winner of the night was Hillary Clinton who gained delegates

(15,438 posts)It was disappointing to see they chose a guy who voted against the auto-bailout (against it under Obama but for it under Bush) that saved their State and four million jobs, while the one who voted for it and who has promised to carry on and expand on President Obama's legacy, didn't win the State.
Disappointing.
Still, a two-point loss isn't bad, considering that a chunk of "Indies" went for Bernie.

(5,648 posts)She spent too much time in the debate talking about the Flint crisis and to the black voters and not enough talking to the blue collar workers.
Also I think she lost an opportunity by not pointing out that Bernie's vote against the bailout had much bigger implications for the country and Michigan than just the loss of the auto industry. Had Bernie's side won and the bailout would have been defeated, this country would not be just coming out of a deep recession, we would still be in a depression as bad or worse than that in the $1930's
In that depression unemployment reached over 25% and other worked for a small percentage of what they had previously earned. Many people lost their homes, and all they had and people who were previously financially stable stood in food lines to keep their families from starving. That lasted for 11 to 12 years and country didn't really start to recover until WW II stimulated the economy. Meanwhile the rich got much richer. People who had money bought land for pennies on the dollar from those who had to sell because the land was all they had and they needed to keep their families feed. There was a massive redistribution of wealth in this country.
Yet Bernie chose to to vote consistent with his ideological ideals instead of with a recognition economic reality. That is a very dangerous thing to do.

(13,781 posts)Yes, I think she should have spent more time on the blue-collar as contrasted with Flint issues (not to say that Flint isn't populated with blue collar voters). But I don't think there's a future in trying to educated people about the virtues of "the bailout." It's too complicated. I'm not exactly sure what you do instead.... What she's doing, I guess.
