(1,033 posts)for not making it worse. They stayed calm, and as bad as it was, it could have been much, much worse.

Yes because of you f*cker!!!!

(17,055 posts)I did see plenty of Bernie sign's at this mayhem called a protest.
Sorry, but I think Trump supporters have a right to rally for their candidate even though I think Trump is a dope.
This so called protest was a embarrassment for democrats!
That's my opinion. I am ashamed for them & our party.

(92,109 posts)I suspect the ACLU would agree with that.
As for embaressment or being ashamed, they are a reflection, good or bad, only on themselves.
Like the spamming of NARAL and PP Facebook pages, or anyone who endorsed Hillary, those who did that are the ones responsible for those actions.
The problem is that usually one action yields another, and this could drive similar disruptions at the Democratic candidates rallies.

(4,640 posts)that no matter that we all find Trump and his ilk reprehensible, they are guaranteed the right to peaceful assembly and free speech by the Constitution. I don't have to like that it is so, but that's the truth of it.

(5,044 posts)The former world headquarters of the Aryan Nations. I'm sure their now deceased leader the "reverend" Butler would have loved Donald Trump. As much as it pained me to see them marching down my main street on Hitlers birthday - they had the right. As much as it pains me to see Trump stirring up the worst in his followers - he has the right.
I believe sunlight is the best disinfectant. Once these tin pot fascists are viewed in the light of day - they can and will be judged by good people everywhere.

(92,109 posts)at least for me, what if the light of day doesn't make them realize the danger, or worse, they subscribe to it
balancing first amendment rights is one thing, but how do you know when line has been crossed?

(92,109 posts)university have to authorize it? If so, why would they authorize such a despicable person?
Then again the same argument was made when Ahmadinejad spoke at Columbia, though that wasn't rally, it still caused a lot of controversy
I am afraid we are living in interesting times

(32,623 posts)It's over now. I was proud of the protesters. They were peaceful just NOT having the racism. Trump's supporters are ALWAYS ramped with hate, if you've paid attention.
ZERO violence per Fox. with all those people confronting violent Trump supporters. ZERO

(6,444 posts)many Republicans hate what he stands for!
Trump is encouraging hate and bigotry as if it was the way to make America Great Again!! You can tell a lot about a leader from what they bring in their supporters.

(32,623 posts)I'm just glad the masses weren't minorities only. I saw Latino, Black and White faces. Outside there were discussions. I saw some Black men talking to White men -both sides millenials. The White guys were saying all lives matter and, bless their hearts, the Black kids said "of course they do, but they're shooting us down in the street". I wanted to HUG them HARD. They stood their ground in the discussion but tried to make them understand.
IF this is where Trump's violent rhetoric leads, IF the public can peacefully suppress him, I don't see how there could be a safer ending.

Bernie's follow his lead. I am not a fan of Bernie Bros at all. Most all of them are immature bullies as far as I'm concerned. Tonight at trump's rally just helped prove my point.

(92,109 posts)I imagine that the University had to authorize this rally to occur, and if so, why would they allow such a controversial figure who has expressed racism and other outrageous to have a rally on the campus?
MrWendel
(1,881 posts)was on a CAMPUS, IN CHICAGO. Can kinda see this happening if you think about it. Just not the Trumpites vs Sandernista shit show in the building.
